The Old Spaghetti Factory in Vancouver, British Columbia is rumored to be the most haunted restaurant in the city. It opened its doors in March of 1970 in a building that has been around since the early 1900s, and is the 2nd oldest building in Vancouver. The Old Spaghetti Factory is known to have vintage décor, as well as an old trolley car, Number 53, that was placed inside around the time of its opening. There are four resident ghosts that are seen in the Old Spaghetti Factory, including the Tram Conductor, who is seen in full uniform inside the tram after hours seated at the same table, and a little boy ghost named Edward has been seen running around the restaurant.

A visiting psychic confirmed that there were spirits here, and that the activity stems from the presence of historical artifacts that they are attached to in the building. Several psychics have also suggested that there is a vortex or portal that is found at the back of the restaurant that may attract these ghosts to stick around.

Three former military officials have testified before a House Oversight subcommittee on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 that they believe the government knows much more about UFOs than it is telling the public, but they also focused more on improving processes for reporting UAPs and transparency on the events for the American people. Former Navy fighter pilot Ryan Graves recounted an incident that happened off the coast of Virginia Beach in 2014 while flying an F-18 where they came upon & almost collided with an aircraft that was a “dark gray or black cube inside of a clear sphere”. He also founded a group that supports aviators who have reported similar phenomenon & the objects that are reportedly being seen by military & commercial pilots that are performing maneuvers which are unexplainable due to our current understanding of our technology. 

Retired Cmdr. David Fravor talked about his encounter which was in 2004, where he & 3 others saw a white “Tac Tac”-shaped flying object emerge over the San Diego coast in California. He said, “There were no rotors, no rotor wash, or any visible flight control surfaces like wings.” As they tried to get closer to the object, “it rapidly accelerated & disappeared right in front of our aircraft,” leaving no detectable turbulence. Retired Major David Grusch spoke about a multi-decade UAP crash retrieval & reverse engineering program that he was exposed to during his time on a UAP task force. Grusch says that he has not personally spotted a UAP or any alien bodies, but his opinions are based on the accounts of over 40 witnesses that he interviewed while he was on the UAP task force. He also said he has interviewed individuals who have recovered “nonhuman biologics” from crashed UAPs.

In a statement, Defense Department spokeswoman Sue Gough said investigators have not discovered “any verifiable information to substantiate claims that any programs regarding the possession or reverse-engineering of extraterrestrial materials have existed in the past or exist currently.” But Ryan Graves urged Congress and government officials to put aside stigma and address the security and safety issue that this topic represents.

Abraham “Avi” Loeb, dubbed the alien hunter of Harvard, is an honored Israeli-American theoretical physicist who works on astrophysics and cosmology and is a professor at Harvard. In 2018, he suggested that alien space craft may be in the Solar System and used the interstellar object Oumuamua as an example, and in July 2021, Avi founded The Galileo Project for the Systematic Scientific Search for Evidence of Extraterrestrial Technological Artifacts.

In January 2014, a 500-kilogram fireball was observed by the DOD where it was recorded as traveling faster than most meteors and ended up breaking up over the South Pacific Ocean near Papua New Guinea.  Avi’s team set out on a research boat called the Silver Star in late June 2023 looking for possible debris , & used a magnetic sled to excavate this debris from the ocean floor where the meteor hit. They found 50 tiny metallic balls called spherules that were made mostly of iron, and each is a fraction of a millimeter in size. He concluded that these metal pieces did not originate from Earth, and did not match any samples of the element found on Earth, leading him to speculate that this piece might be from outer space.

Just before midnight on April 30, 2023, people across several states, some even as far as California, saw a bright fireball streak through the sky. Body-cam footage from a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officer caught a glimpse of this, but a Las Vegas family witnessed something much more terrifying. A father and his 2 sons were working on a vehicle in their yard when they saw the sparkly object. As it came crashing down, they were hit by what they described as a shock wave. That is when they saw a tall creature in their backyard, which appeared to be 8-10 feet tall, had large eyes, was skinny with long legs & was greyish-green in color. They were terrified by what they saw and called 911.

Approximately 39 minutes after the 1st call, another resident called 911 saying that there were 2 unknown entities in his backyard after he saw an object fall from the sky. The caller described what he was seeing, detailing that they had big, shiny neon eyes & mouths & were naked. They were “100% not human.” After investigating the homes, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department decided to close the case due to no physical evidence and called it unfounded.

On the second half, we reviewed the 1996 film Independence Day, directed byRoland Emmerich and starring an ensemble cast including Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Mary McDonnell & Vivica A. Fox. It is about groups of people who converge in the Nevada dessert in the aftermath of a worldwide attack by a powerful alien race. With the rest of the world, they launch a counterattack on July 4 in the United States.

The Tsuchinoko is a snake-like cryptid that is seen in the mountainous regions of Western Japan, & appears to look like your common snake, although with a central girth that is wider than its head & tail & appears to look like a hammer or mallet without a handle. It has large, plate-like scales that run down its earth-tone speckled body, & because of their color & shape, they are often said to resemble beer bottles.

Despite having an awkward shape, the Tsuchinoko is very nimble. It is said that it can jump up to a meter in distance followed immediately by a 2nd jump while it is still in the air & by some estimates, can jump up to 5 meters. It is also reported to sometimes swallow its tail & roll like a wheel, which is similar to the hoop snake. According to legend, some Tsuchinoko are able to speak & are notorious liars, & are said to have a taste for alcohol or sake.

The Stanley Hotel, located at 333 Wonderview Avenue Estes Park, CO served as the inspiration for Stephen King’s 1977 novel The Shining and is considered to be one of the most haunted hotels in the U.S. It is a 140-room Colonial Revival hotel located about 5 miles from the Rocky Mountain National Park, and was built by Freelan Oscar Stanley, the inventor of the steam-powered car. It opened July 4, 1909 as a resort for upper class Easteners and a health resort for Tuberculosis sufferers. 

The Stanley Hotel has had a rather peaceful history, but in the years following the publication of The Shining, it has gained a reputation as a setting for paranormal activity. Freelance Stanley is said to wander the halls of the hotel and his wife, Flora has been seen and heard in the ballroom at the piano playing away. The fourth floor is said to be one of the most haunted areas in the hotel as well as room 217 where guests find that the room has been straightened up, their clothing folded or put away, or their suitcases organized. 

On the second half, we reviewed the 1980 film The Shining, directed by Stanley Kubrick and starring Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall, and Danny Lloyd. It is about a family that heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where a sinister presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from both past and future.

Not sure of the exact beginnings, but stories of Norwegian Trolls can be found in the first written sources, the sagas, from the Middle Ages, but they were in oral traditions and people’s imaginations long before that time. The term “troll” actually comes from the Proto-Germanic word “Trullan” which translates to mean fiend, demon, or giant. So some were described as giants, terrorizing entire villages, and others were considered to be small, evil tricksters. In general, most trolls were considered to be cruel, violent, unattractive creatures, with huge noses, big teeth, and grotesque features and were thought to be quite stupid and easily tricked.

While, there is no single agreement as to what trolls may have looked like, most Norwegians agree that there are basically 2 types of trolls, the Trogre and the Troblins. The trolls of the mountains or forest, the Tragre, are generally depicted as large, dumb, and brute-ish and are said to use connections with nature to uproot trees to use as weapons, or to cause ecological disasters such as hurricanes and avalanches. The trolls of the caves, the Troblins, live completely underground & are generally depicted as smaller, with a large round stomach and short, stubby arms and legs. They tend to use their connections with nature to baffle or deceive humans.

On the second half, we reviewed the 2022 film Troll, directed by Roar Uthaug. It is about a troll that is released after being trapped for a 1000 years and destroys everything in its path while it approaches the capital of Norway.

In Norwegian folklore, the werewolf or “varulv” is a type of shapeshifter or “hamløper”. Another type of shapeshifter is the “mannbjørn”, or man bear. It was once believed that certain people could transform into a wolf or a bear, but it was usually because this ability was due to a curse given to them by Trollmen. Norwegian werewolves don’t have the same characteristics as werewolves of literature or movies, in that they don’t need the moon to change, in order to change they put a wolfskin on, and silver isn’t a deterrent.

The Norse sagas though have had a big influence on werewolf folklore in Norway, especially with stories of people who can turn into something else. Of course, this is more of a magical power versus a curse placed on them. Vikings were very obsessed with wolves, as well as, people who could become them and even had them as symbols representing their society. Some Viking warriors would growl and howl in battle and even attack each other in their frenzy and would wear furs of wolves or bears.

On the second half, we reviewed the 2022 film Viking Wolf, directed by Stig Svendson. It is about a teenager who witnesses a grotesque murder at a party in her new town, and after hiding a small wound she received during the attack, begins having strange visions and bizarre desires.

On a hot, humid night in August 1952, scoutmaster D.S. “Sonny” DesVergers witnessed some lights from his vehicle, and decided to investigate, leaving the three Boy Scouts he was transporting in the car. After hacking away at the brush for about 4 minutes, Sonny arrived at a clearing in a grove and immediately was overcome with an awful, nauseating smell, the feeling as though someone or something was watching him, and an intense heat coming from above him. That was when he realized that he was standing underneath a hovering object.

He was terrified, and slowly started backing up when he heard a noise like a metal door opening. A bright red light came from the side of the object and slowly moved towards him completely surrounding him, before he passed out. When he woke up, he couldn’t see because his eyes were burned, and when he eventually emerged from the brush he was incoherent, claiming that he had come into contact with a UFO that had attacked him. This incident is one of Project Blue Book’s most interesting cases and is still unsolved, where some believe it may be the best hoax in UFO history. 

On the second half, we reviewed the 2014 movie Extraterrestrial, written, produced and edited by the Vicious Brothers. It is about a group of friends on a weekend trip to a cabin in the woods that find themselves terrorized by alien visitors.
